emiko-o reware - home

© 2008 emiko-o

Inspired by hardware, haute couture, and salvaged materials, emiko oye creates urban jewelry and wearables for the body. She launched her company, emiko-o, in 1998 to raise public awareness that jewelry is art. Based in San Francisco, the reware jewelry line strives to challenge what one considers acceptable.

A synthesis of fashion and fine art, reware bestows upon the wearer a sense of uniqueness and self-assurdness in our fast-forward culture.

All of her artworks are one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted, and created using a unique combination of precious metals and gems with acrylics. In addition to the reware line, she also creates sculptural art works from recycled materials, such as plastics, glass, hardware, and wood in conjunction with metals. Social and political commentary are often the focus of these larger exhibition works.

Both her jewelry and larger sculptural work have been exhibitied in galleries and museums across the United States and Great Britain.
